Membership
There are 4 things that qualify someone to become a member. Potential members must:
1. Have a diagnosed mental illness
2. Be between the ages of 18-35
3. Have attended 2 Community Events (see our Event Calendar for upcoming Community Events)
4. Be actively in or seeking treatment for their mental health*
There is no charge to become a member. The only financial expectation is that members pay their own way to paid events. We make an effort to schedule as many low to no cost events however there are some things such as trips to the movies or going bowling that require a small fee. We make sure that the overall cost equals out to no more than $20 per month. Any event costing over $10 is subsidized by the organization.
*Being “in treatment” is defined as working in cooperation with a trained professional to sustain one's mental health. Some examples of these professionals include but may not be limited to psychiatrists, therapists, holistic health practitioners or acupuncturists. This does not mean that members are required to take medication in order to be involved; it simply means that we expect members to either be working with a mental health professional and be in agreement on their course of treatment or are consulting with other specialists to determine a new course of treatment. The key thing is that individuals are taking responsibility for their wellness and making use of available resources to stay well.
